Kristen is a Rock Star!! - So those of you CMU'ers may know, Kristen Williams Benoit, was single handedly the reason I went to Carnegie Mellon, survived the experience, and thus am the person I am today. She was there the first days of meeting this crazy person named Larry, the days I figured out I loved him (she knew before I did) and was there when we got married. Although I'm devastated that we now live not within driving distance (well CrazyEngineer's dad just proved it is within Harley riding distance) I couldn't be more proud of her. Not only is she pursuing her dream of being a professional classical piano musician, but SHE IS IN A BAND!. Check out Full Minu...

My Husband the Celebrity - For those of you who don't know the CrazyEngineer in person, you may not realize that he isn't initially the most outgoing of the two of us yet as I'm now making friends in Grants Pass, I hear from time to time "Oh yea, your husband is the bike guy.. ya know, from the paper!" What they are referring to, is a full page article in the Grants Pass Daily Courier that talks about his bike from the Bike First program. Yes, for those of you keeping score, the same bike that prompted me to sweetly say "I want one too", thus the $150 for the $1200 bike for him, turned into another $300 for a bike for me. In this article, I learned that "Now that we've started riding bikes we're thinking of 20 to 30 miles a day " Well, I can tell you that that neve...

Friends and a Wild Ride - So Larry made a post about friends, which I think is kinda funny Although I admit right now I have the number of friends I could count on one hand that are within a distance to go out to lunch, I do feel very blessed with the large and extended group of friends that I do have. Mr Crazy (we will leave it at that for now) on the other hand, can count the total number of friends that he has on one hand period. He has had a constant theory that he doesn't want to mix work with friends, which is okay, I just don't know how else to expand the group quickly. That being said, I did have a good time at my "Crop Workshop" on saturday. I met 4 nice ladies. For those of you who don't know, I am a creative memories freak. I have my scrapbooking station set up in our living room. I don't always get to do lots of scrapbooking, but I do try. Those of you who really know me, know the reason TOOLS. I am a tools-aholic. Power tools, scrapbooking tools it doesn't matter. A...

I love Grants Pass - And I love that I have Veteran's Day off tomarrow! Mr. Crazyengineer reminded me that I did have Veteran's day off last year as well, but working for PG, apparently I went into work I'm not surprised. And, I'm in my happy place as I block out most of what happened there as well. Each day I drive 32 miles to work each way. I travel from Grants Pass, east on I-5, to White City which is on the north side of Medford. And for all those who live on the west coast, I know what you are thinking EAST on I-5? I-5 is a N/S freeway!! Well, why generally this is true, it is not from Medford to Grants Pass. Each morning I get to drive on this sleepy drive as I traverse through what Ohio'ans would call "mountains" down into Medford. I love the way that ther...

Is the new form of American Patriotism the equivalent to Islamic Fundamentalism? - So this will be a short one, since this is *really* pissing me off. Since when was it UN-American for people to voice their opinion or challenge the party or person in power? I have been astounded at the things that I have watched my co-workers, friends, and other average Americans twist into insults on American patriotism. Lets be clear - I don't want to be in Iraq. I don't want my friends, loved ones, or anyone there. I don't care if they want to be there or not, but I support them 100%. I admire them for all their sacrifices, especially because I am not personally willing to make those same sacrifices. And quite frankly, if Mr. CE told me that he was going to join the guard, I'd probably tell him that I would use my VETO power. Regardless of what I think about us being there, I support the people who are there. What we are so clearly so afraid of, is how to honor and support the troops and if we challenge the status quo. I say, how am I honoring them, if I...

Mayhem, Madness, and Democracy - Who ever said that democracy was supposed to be an orderly, agreeable, comfortable process? Well. two out of three isn't bad. That's what happened yesterday when I attended the John Kerry campaign rally in Medford. Now, for those of you who don't know much about Medford, this part of the state (see CrazyEngineer's post regarding the State of Jefferson) is known throughout Oregon as a republican conservative stronghold. Now, I do have to take issue with this blanket assumption. According to JPR (Jefferson Public Radio) this morning, 43% of Jackson & Josephine Counties is Republican, 33% Democrat, and the rest Independent. Ahhh. So that's why both Kerry and the Republican party had rallies on the same day: that illusive independent vote. I truly don't under...

Mrs. CrazyEngineer is Going on the Web - In response to Mrs. CrazyEngineer's opinion that I only make posts about dead B-movie stars and Buffy, I've given her a section of the site so she can make posts about our actual lives for all of you who are interested in such minutia....
